Palo Alto Networks Is Recognized by Gartner for Its Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

Today, Palo Alto Networks was recognized as a Leader in the 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for SD-WAN for the fourth consecutive year. Palo Alto Networks is furthest for Completeness of Vision, which we believe is a testament to our next-generation Prisma SD-WAN solution. Palo Alto Networks has also been recently recognized as the only Leader in Single-Vendor SASE and as a Leader in Security Service Edge (SSE) in 2023, making us the only evaluated vendor named as a Leader in all three SASE-related Magic Quadrant reports.

Your Branch Has Changed — Your SD-WAN Should, Too

In the post-pandemic world, organizations are looking to accelerate hybrid work, cloud and digital transformation. As a result, customers need a unified SASE solution that combines SD-WAN and security. In fact, according to Gartner 2022 Strategic Roadmap for SASE Convergence report, by 2025, 50% of SD-WAN purchases will be part of a single vendor SASE offering, up from less than 10% in 2021.

To secure the modern branch, a cloud-delivered security model integrated with SD-WAN is essential. Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access provides a massively distributed security service edge (SSE) with a full stack of security capabilities delivered from the cloud. By unifying Prisma SD-WAN with Prisma Access, we provide Prisma SASE to help build modern branches.

Unified SASE with Prisma SD-WAN and Prisma Access

Hence, customers who have deployed first-generation SD-WAN products, as well as customers who have traditional routers, are looking to migrate to Prisma SD-WAN. We see two migrations:

  • First, customers that are replacing their legacy SD-WAN solutions with next-generation Prisma SD-WAN and Prisma Access to deliver a unified SASE solution.
  • Second, customers that are moving from a traditional routing infrastructure to Prisma SD-WAN and Prisma Access to deliver a unified SASE solution.

For example, Beam Suntory, one of the leading global distillers, has migrated to next-generation Prisma SD-WAN integrated with Prisma Access to connect and secure their 45,000 users. Qun Wei, a senior network architect at Beam Suntory, said, “Prisma SASE improved both the performance and the security of our business significantly. It has dramatically increased our team’s confidence in the network’s efficiency, reliability and security.”

Much like Beam Suntory, most customers are realizing the limitations of first-generation SD-WAN and are now looking for unified SASE solutions that deliver the following:

  • Exceptional performance and user experience with tightly integrated SD-WAN to ensure flexible connectivity and direct-to-app access that preserves SD-WAN capabilities.
  • Automated IT operations with the power of AI/ML and a single pane of glass management. It is crucial to have integrated data across SD-WAN and security to truly leverage AI/ML to automate operations.
  • Best-in-class security to protect all users, applications and devices, including IoT with ZTNA 2.0. With mix-n-match approaches, often security of IoT devices is compromised.

“To leverage the power of AI to automate operations, you require data across SD-WAN and security in a unified manner. Unlike mix-n-match SASE solutions, we ensure that our data is Complete, Consistent and Correct across SASE. As a consequence, we can automate operations and deliver incredible user experience using AI/ML on those data sets.”
– Kumar Ramachandran, Senior Vice President, Products at Palo Alto Networks

With branch offices facing fundamental shifts, Prisma SD-WAN’s ability to deliver game-changing capabilities in AIOps, visibility and granular policy, and exceptional customer experience, is essential to build the Branch of the Future, today.
